TracInnovations is delighted to announce the successful connection of their markerless motion tracking technology with a prototype of a Siemens Healthineers Access-I interface for brain MRI motion correction. Markerless motion tracking real-time information provided by Tracoline could be directly implemented during brain MRI acquisition to overcome patient motion as it is occurring.
Ballerup, Denmark – August 20, 2024 – TracInnovations, the industry leader in motion tracking technology, is proud to announce a successful collaboration with Siemens Healthineers, a leading medical technology company. This has resulted in the demonstration of a seamless connection of TracInnovations’ Tracoline markerless motion tracking to MAGNETOM systems of Siemens Healthineers through their open innovation Access-I third-party interface prototype.
The Tracoline-Access-I system is a state-of-the-art motion correction solution designed to enhance MRI procedures by providing real-time, highly sensitive motion correction information observed in-bore to help overcome patient motion. Patients often struggle to remain still during MRI for a variety of reasons, such as the inherent long scan times or claustrophobia in the MR environment. Traditional methods to overcome patient motion in MRI can be inefficient and are often time-consuming. Tracoline uses a highly sophisticated optical markerless in-bore motion tracking camera to monitor patient head movement. This innovative technology addresses one of the most significant challenges in MRI – patient movement – which can lead to image artifacts, increased scan times, and the need for repeat scans.
Key Highlights of the development:
- Enhanced Image Quality: Offers an opportunity to reliably reduce motion artifacts by incorporating markerless external motion tracking information directly into scan workflow.
- Improved Patient Experience: No need for physical markers to track motion, reducing patient anxiety. Risks associated with the use of sedation and anesthesia to reduce unintentional patient motion in some patient cohorts can be avoided.
- Increased Efficiency: Minimizing rescans caused by excessive patient motion during scan acquisition will enhance productivity at the scanner.
TracInnovations is excited to announce this significant step forward in improving MRI outcomes for patients exhibiting unintentional motion, harnessing the advanced motion tracking technology offered by Tracoline, utilizing the expertise of Siemens Healthineers in MRI systems and their open innovation interfaces for third-party applications.
“We are thrilled to announce this key development with Access-I from Siemens Healthineers which integrates Tracoline motion tracking information directly to the MAGNETOM systems of Siemens Healthineers. Our joint effort has brought us one step closer to our goal of overcoming the impact of unintentional patient motion on MR brain imaging in the everyday clinical environment.”
Stefan Ovesen Banke, CEO TracInnovations
“Open innovation and collaboration with third-party and academic partners are key to our success at Siemens Healthineers. The Tracoline example is testament to our goal to enable third parties to develop innovations for the clinical and research community. “
Rebecca Ramb, VP Research & Clinical Translation, Magnetic Resonance at Siemens Healthineers
“We have worked closely with TracInnovations and Siemens Healthineers in our mission at BCH to reduce patient motion in pediatric MRI without using sedation. The successful integration of Tracoline to Siemens Healthineers MR systems is an exciting jump forward and we can hopefully look forward to incorporating Tracoline to streamline our clinical neuro workflow.”
